For our Garden(ers) who have a desk and/or build permissions wondering what considerations they should be making when adding to the space, we made this list just for you!

  1. Don't erase the work of others without permission.
  2. Keep pathways clear. If it looks like a pathway that would be in the physical world to get from one place or another, keep extraneous objects away.
  3. Keep in alignment with the aesthetic and purpose of the room. For example: If it's an underwater room, use elements that make sense for that location. Also, make sure not to over build objects into one room as too many objects makes the loading time of a room longer.
  4. Keep interactable objects away from each other. Placing interactable objects too close together limits the reach of each object (especially way finding objects or ones with vital information)
  5. Move Go-Karts away from interactive elements. Go-Karts placed too closely to other interactive elements can prevent others from being able to engage with the element. (Ex: Go-Karts too close to a projector, or to a video object, or an art piece in a gallery.)
  6. Have questions about Embedding a website or resource? Check here and here. Ask, if you need help!
  7. Is something broken? Let us (J Mase, Al or Gata) know!
  8. Be consistent in how objects are used. Notice that the white bookshelves always lead to Garden's guestbook? Or the bulletin board always leads to the Love Offerings Padlet? Make sure that if you use an object for a specific task, be consistent with how you use it in future so folks are more likely to know how to engage with it.
  9. If you are uploading an image or object, check that what you are uploading is the correct size. Need to re-size an image to the correct pixel size? Try this.
  10. *Newly added: Check your work! If you embedded a link, or a new object, once you have placed it, make sure it works! There are lots of ways to troubleshoot a broken or malfunctioning link, but if you don't check your work no one will know until they need/want to use it!

That's all for now, until next our avatars meet!
